Me or the Underbelly?

The underbelly of Delhi emerges to show off dirty linen

Who are these people? Are they my own countrymen? Is this lust or this a mirror? Is this reality or maybe just the new fad? As I type this, my first blog entry I am simultaneously watching three news channels. One just reported on how unsafe Delhi is – on a regulalr basis. The second showcased the latest incident of violence caught live on camera as Assamese locals beat the crap out of a few men mostly tribals and activists. [Hey! No judgments here , ofcourse they had a legitimate reason] and the third - a five second clip of Govinda (the actor) slapping someone on camera. January of 2008 ofcourse brought the Mumbai incidence of girls being mauled by public.
News channels are slitting throats so that you can see for yourself why you’re not safe anymore. Then again, were we ever really safe? Really? Oh yes, that was the British Raj, pardon me Now that we have independence and a sanskriti, we can’t afford to let the western world see us any differently. The globe sees India as a young booming nation and they pump us with us with their MNC’s and hey! We want it all. Infact we have been wanting it all for the last fifty years and so we steadily swept away issues of sex and suppression until even the rug started coughing aloud the dust. And oh look! Its all full of lust, untamed wild abandonment. We don’t care about judgments; we don’t give a rat’s ass about being shamed. We just want that piece of ass because swarg or heaven is just a word. Delhi hasn’t “suddenly” become unsafe. We have years and years of sexual repression and lawlessness and finally it’s emerged from the underbelly to show off its head.

Frankly I think its time to take to the hills.
